Music and Dance Workshops

Fee: $8.00 includes entrance to Red Dragon Tent for Pub Night
Pre-registration is recommended as space is limited.
Bring your own instrument or dance shoes. Walk-ins taken if space permits.
Participants should be at least 8 years of age unless otherwise noted.

Celtic Fiddle Styles - Cori Smith (instructor) - for fiddlers who have a good familiarity with
the instrument. Cori will teach some Celtic tunes with stylistic ornaments and bowing that
will bring the tunes to life.

Tin Whistle - Bryan Kelso Crow (instructor) - Beginners welcome. Bring a whistle in the key
of D. Bryan will teach some basic Irish tunes, adding flourishes and more advanced
technique for folks who already have a basic understanding of the instrument.

Guitar Accompaniment - Mike Shanahan (instructor) - for players who have a good
familiarity with their instrument. Mike will instruct on basic accompaniment to Irish tunes,
highlighting the differences between jigs, reels, slip jigs, etc. He will provide resource
suggestions for future study.

Irish Step Dance - Delia Phillips (instructor) - Beginning level, ages 7 and up welcome.
Delia will teach the very basic Irish steps, friendly to all. Please bring some fully enclosed
soft soled shoes to wear. No sandals, flip flops, sling-backs, etc. - they just donʼt work!
After your workshops, stay for the ceili dance (Dance Stage), and enjoy the events in the
Red Dragon Tent all evening! Also, there will be “open sessions” at the festival on Saturday. Everyone is welcome to
bring their instruments/dance shoes and join in the fun at the Acoustic Tent!
